Caring Owls ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Vival Ventures LLC. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Caring Owls application and related services (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our Service:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and phone number of caregivers and care recipients.
- Contact Information: Names and phone numbers of approved contacts added to the whitelist by authorized caregivers.
- Call and Message Metadata: Date, time, duration, and phone numbers involved in calls and text messages routed through the Service. We do not record call audio.
- Text Message Content: The content of SMS messages sent and received through the Service, stored temporarily to enable message display and delivery.
- Voicemail Recordings: Audio recordings and transcriptions of voicemails left by unknown callers, stored for caregiver review.
- Blocked Attempt Data: Phone numbers and timestamps of calls and texts from unknown numbers that were filtered by the Service.
- Device Information: Device type and app version, collected to ensure compatibility and troubleshoot issues.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Route calls and text messages between care recipients and approved contacts.
- Filter and block calls and texts from unknown or unapproved numbers.
- Record and transcribe voicemails from unknown callers for caregiver review.
- Send alerts and notifications to caregivers about call and message activity.
- Display call history, message history, and activity logs in the caregiver dashboard.
- Maintain and improve the reliability and performance of the Service.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use Twilio to route calls and text messages. Twilio processes call and message data in accordance with their own privacy policy and data processing agreement. We use Firebase (Google) for authentication services.
- Within Your Family Account: All caregivers associated with a family account can view call logs, message activity, and contact information for the care recipient they manage.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.
4. Data Retention
We retain call and message metadata, text message content, and activity logs for 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Voicemail recordings are retained until reviewed and acted upon by a caregiver, or for a maximum of 90 days. Account information is retained for as long as the account is active.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption of data at rest, secure API authentication, and access controls limiting data access to authorized caregivers only. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us. Caregivers may add or remove contacts and manage account settings through the family dashboard. If you wish to delete your account entirely, please contact us and we will remove all associated data within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify active users of material changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
